The City of Mountlake Terrace invites the community to attend a meeting to help shape the future of Ballinger Park. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Ballinger Clubhouse, 23000 Lakeview Drive in Mountlake Terrace.

The purpose of the Ballinger Park Master Plan is to create a clear and concise set of goals, policies and objectives that will provide direction to the City Council, the Recreation and Parks Advisory Commission, and city staff for future development, redevelopment and enhancement opportunities of the city’s park property located at Ballinger Lake.

At its March 2 meeting, the City Council approved an agreement with Berger Partnership for $74,750 to prepare the Ballinger Park Master Plan. “Berger Partnership has a proven track record in developing long-range park plans, including extensive experience with assessing community and facility needs, trail planning, recreation programs, maintenance and operations and familiarity with funding options including state and federal grant requirements,” said Recreation and Parks Director Jeff Betz.

A kickoff meeting was held March 11 with city staff and Berger Partnership to discuss the Ballinger Park Master Planning process. The upcoming schedule and scope of work was reviewed along with previous documents and feedback from meetings held regarding the park project.

The property was previously used as a municipal golf course. The planning and development process includes data collection and analysis, public outreach and stakeholder involvement, development of goals and objectives, preparation of park conceptual plans and options, identification of capital needs and funding strategies.
