City Receives Grant for Sidewalks on 227th St SW

The City recently was notified that they received a Community Development Block Grant for about $172,000 to fund the construction of sidewalks on 227th St SW between 58th Ave W and 56th Ave W. The Possible Sidewalk Improvements map below, last updated in 2012, shows that a sidewalk on 227th will provide a much needed missing link between 58th Ave W and 56th Ave W. There are currently no east-west sidewalks connecting the two streets between 230th St sW and 220th St SW. With Terrace Park serving students west of 56th and the popularity of the Recreation Pavilion and Terrace Creek Park, this new sidewalk will give many people a safer east-west route through the neighborhood. Included in the project will be curb, gutter, curb ramps, planter strip, roadway improvements, and drainage improvements on the south side of 227th. Design has yet to begin but it is expected that construction will be some time in 2015.
