MLT City Hall Community Meeting May 10 at Cedar Way Elementary
The City Hall Advisory Committee third community meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, at Cedar Way Elementary School, 22222 39th Avenue W, in the lunchroom. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The City Hall Advisory Committee has scheduled a series of community meetings to engage the public on the City Hall project. The third community meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 10, at Cedar Way Elementary School, 22222 39th Avenue W, in the lunchroom. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. The project goal is to develop an affordable concept design and cost estimate in support of a new City Hall at the Civic Center (232nd Street and 58th Avenue).
At the May 10 community meeting, ARC Architects will present new concept layouts for a new City Hall in follow up from input provided at the April 20 community meeting. The concepts will include two stand-alone City Hall layouts and one City Hall attached to the Police Station along with different vehicle traffic scenarios. The scenarios also show onsite parking.
Meanwhile, in follow up from the April 20 community meeting, the Committee is reviewing the proposed square footage in the base model City Hall, financing options, project components including space for the Police Department, ballot measure information, and project costs. The early estimates ranged from about $12.5 million to about $16.5 million for a stand-alone City Hall (19,762 SF), City Hall with about 3,100 SF of additional space for the Police Department (22,864 SF), and the latter with a remodel of the current Police Station. The Committee will be reviewing the space needs and refining the project prior to making a recommendation to the community and City Council on June 5.
Following the May 10 community meeting, the Committee will have a meeting on May 18 (6:30 p.m., Interim City Hall) followed by an open house on June 5, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Interim City Hall. The open house will be followed by the Committee’s recommendation to the City Council as part of the Council meeting.
