Three homes demolished on 237th St SW
Three single family concrete block homes have been demolished on 237th St SW in preparation for a future short plat. The parcels, which total 0.6 acres, are owned by the neighboring Forest Crest Athletic Club. In addition to the athletic club property and these three single family parcels, the club also owns four other single family parcels on the block.
While the owner has not submitted any permit applications for the future work, the demolition permits indicate a future short plat is planned. Zoning for the properties is RS 4800 which would allow the properties to be split in to five single-family parcels.
Over the years the Forest Crest Athletic Club and its owners have purchased many of the single family parcels between the Forest Crest playfield to the west, 48th Ave W to the east, 236th St SW to the north, and 238th St SW to the south. They had plans to construct an indoor soccer field in the area but when they formally requested a zoning change in 2011 to allow the facility, the City's Planning Commission and neighboring residences were not in favor of the zoning change according to an article in the Herald.
